Leia: Wanted To Make The Leap
🎮 Leia had a master's in digital arts game design, but felt nervous about lacking industry experience.
When she joined Masterclass One, she found what she describes as "the kindest, most engaging, most talented range of people from all around the world."
The transformation? "I feel so much more capable in my writing skin, so much more confident in my ability to create experiences that could resonate with players."
More importantly, she gained the confidence to network and engage professionally — skills she says she never would have developed working alone.
She's now a Unity Developer and Junior Writer at Spooky Doorway. Yay! 🥳
Dave: Wanted To Change Careers
🎮 Dave was an experienced comedy writer coming from The Onion (!), but he was, as he said,
"trying to bridge that gap between an experienced writer but not an experienced game writer."
Seven weeks after finishing the class, he landed his first game writing job. 🎉
His breakthrough moment? "I felt like I was speaking the same language as some of these people... I felt like I was good in my own game writer skin."
He's worked on multiple game-wrting projects, including one for Netflix.
Alex: Wanted To Escape Indie-Studio Isolation
🎮 Alex had been running his own indie studio for eight years, "figuring out how to do things on my own."
Despite years of experience, he was missing something crucial: "Personal connections and relationships... it's just a really valuable asset to have, especially because [the TND students] all so welcoming."
The class gave him the professional community he couldn't build in isolation.
His studio is still going strong - and he's hired other TND graduates! 🤩
