How an Emmy-winning writer pivoted to games

One nerd's career quest back into the dungeon

· How To Become A Video Game Writer,Behind The Scenes

For years, Cam Baity was a stop-motion animator, a sci-fantasy author, and a TV writer. He won two Emmys and built a successful career in Hollywood, working on projects like Team America and SpongeBob Squarepants.

But his first love was always games.

Finally, the day came when this Forever Dungeon Master rolled the dice and took the biggest leap of his career.

He’s now Senior Writer at System Era Softworks!

In this wide-ranging interview, Cam tells us about his own hero’s quest, including:

  • Why tabletop RPGs hold the key to ALL games 🐉 (00:10)
  • What happens when programmers and writers are in the same meeting 😳 (09:15)
  • What to do when your lead tells you he hates your idea 😬 (21:28)

As you can see, Cam's career path has been a true adventure. But Cam knew what he wanted, and he made it happen.

I loved this interview and I hope you did too.
